Frequently Asked Questions

No, we generally don’t use donations for our Habitat Homes. We use new materials to ensure quality and consistency in our Habitat home builds. However, in special cases, we may use donated items if they meet our construction standards.

No, we do not purchase items from individuals for resale. While we purchase some new product from a few outside vendors, the majority of our inventory comes from generous donations made by individuals, businesses, and organizations.

Yes! We offer delivery for oversized items for a fee based on your distance from the Store. We deliver throughout Skagit County and to nearby cities including Bellingham, Oak Harbor, Coupeville, South Whidbey, Arlington, and Marysville.

To see our current delivery fees, check out the delivery information section above. If you are outside of our delivery area, please contact a sales associate to see if we can deliver your item to you.

Not everyone! We have a team of dedicated full-time and part-time paid staff who keep the Habitat Store running smoothly. Volunteers also play a vital role in our success. If you’re interested in joining our volunteer team, visit our Volunteer Page.

We accept new or gently used items in good, working condition, including appliances, furniture, housewares, building materials, tools, and more. We do not accept broken, damaged, dirty, or items missing parts. Some common items we don’t take are window blinds (unless new in box), coffee tables, hazardous or toxic chemicals, tube projection TVs, soft goods (clothing, linens, etc.), dishware, knick knacks, and books.

For a list of what we accept and don’t accept, check out our Donation Guidelines. If you don’t see your item on the list, please call the Store at 360-428-9402.

As a nonprofit, we need to be mindful of disposal costs. If we anticipate that an item won’t sell, it may end up costing us money to dispose of it properly. To ensure we can continue supporting our mission to build homes, community, and hope in Skagit County, we may have to decline certain donations. For a partial list of what we accept and decline, click here. If you don’t see your item on the list, please call the Store at 360-428-9402.
