Skagit Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for our Parkside Cottages in Anacortes! This is a unique opportunity to own a permanently affordable home while paying no more than 33% of your gross monthly income.

With the current housing market out of reach for many, Skagit Habitat’s Homebuyer Program helps low-income families and individuals achieve affordable homeownership. Parkside Cottages in Anacortes

Parkside Cottages in Anacortes includes eight units arranged as four duplexes. Located just off 29th Street and right across from Storvik Park, it’s an easy walk to both the park and downtown Anacortes. Each two-story unit is about 1,048 square feet and features two bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms. Each home shares a wall with its neighboring unit.

Parkside Cottages Qualifications:

  • Household Size: 1–4 people

    • Maximum of two children per bedroom
    • Children of opposite sexes may not share a bedroom
  • Employment History:

    • At least two years of consistent income in the same job or career field
  • Credit & Debt-to-Income (DTI):

    • Minimum credit score of 620
    • Debt-to-income ratio of 43% or lower
  • Income Range:

    • Combined gross household income between 65%–80% of Skagit County’s Area Median Income (AMI), based on household size. Click here to view the updated income requirements.

Homebuyer Program Qualifications:

  • Residency:

    • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
    • Must have lived in Skagit County for at least one year
  • Housing Need:

    • Currently living in inadequate or substandard housing, or
    • Spending 50% or more of household income on rent
  • Willingness to Partner:

    • Once selected, future Homebuyers must complete a certain amount of “Sweat Equity” hours by volunteering at the construction site, Skagit Habitat Store, or other Skagit Habitat-related events
    • Once selected, future Homebuyers must complete required program courses and attend meeting
  • Ability to Repay:

    • At least two years of documented income demonstrating financial stability
    • Ability to qualify for a mortgage loan through a lender
