For Women, by Women
Skagit Habitat for Humanity is excited to continue its Women Build Classes, hands-on workshops designed to empower women by building confidence with both hand and power tools. These classes are completely free and accessible to everyone in our community, creating a safe and welcoming space for women to come together, learn, and grow their skills in construction and home-maintenance.
Building Skills Through Hands-On Projects
Earlier this year, Skagit Habitat hosted two classes focused on building cedar planter boxes. Participants learned how to measure and cut lumber, safely use a chop saw and drill, and assemble their own planter boxes from start to finish.
Last week, a mix of returning participants and newcomers took on a new challenge: building a wall-mounted key holder. In this class, participants gained experience using a miter saw, drill, and wood glue to create a sturdy, practical key holder.
Whether you’re brand new to tools or looking to sharpen your existing skills, Women Build Classes offer a supportive, encouraging environment to learn and try something new.
Made Possible By Julia Phillip Realty
All instruction and supplies are provided, thanks to the generous support of Julia Phillip Realty. Julia Phillip, long-time volunteer at Skagit Habitat, brings years of experience in real estate and home improvement, co-leads the classes, and helps guide participants every step of the way.
